Investigating - We are currently investigating an issue affecting some Basechain Reth Archive nodes, which may cause nodes to fall behind the latest block height and result in delayed or degraded RPC responses.

Our engineering team has completed the underlying migration and applied a mitigation across the affected nodes. We are continuing to closely monitor Basechain nodes to ensure they remain synchronized and stable.

Customers may experience intermittent delays while affected nodes catch up with the latest block height.

We will provide further updates as monitoring continues.

Scheduled - Parity, the maintainer of the Polkadot SDK, is deprecating the Substrate API Sidecar (substrate-api-sidecar)—the service that currently sits in front of Polkadot and Kusama nodes to simplify node access. It has been replaced by the Polkadot REST API, a rebuilt successor that offers the same core functionality.

As a result, Blockdaemon will remove the Sidecar API from our dedicated nodes and API effective August 24, 2026. After this date, requests to the Sidecar endpoint will no longer be served.

What you need to do

The Polkadot REST API is broadly compatible with Sidecar, but the endpoint structure and some response formats differ. We recommend that you:

Review the Polkadot REST API documentation and migration guide, and test it against your specific use cases before the cutover date.

Scheduled - Blockdaemon will update all OP-Stacks Mainnet and Testnet nodes, Optimism, Ink, Unichain (OP-Stacks on August 17, 2026, starting at 6:30 AM UTC. We are updating our nodes due to a release from the Optimism foundation. These updates include op-reth v2.4.2

This update applies to all Blockdaemon OP-Stacks Mainnet and Testnet nodes, which included Optimism, Ink, Unichain (OP-Stacks) and there will be planned downtime of up to 15 minutes per node.

We have tested the release and do not anticipate any unexpected downtime other than mentioned above as a result of the update. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
